Authentication Code and UTR's
PracticeFlow allows certain sensitive reference numbers to be stored securely within client records. These include:
- Company authentication code (organisations)
- Companies House personal authentication code (individuals)
- Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR)
These fields are accessible within the right-hand side panel when viewing an organisation or individual record.
For organisations, the company authentication code is shown within the organisation details panel. For individuals, the Companies House personal authentication code is shown within the individual details panel in a similar position.
Both authentication codes are handled in the same way: the value is masked by default; it can be revealed using the eye icon; and it can be copied to the clipboard when required. This ensures the information is accessible when needed, while remaining protected during normal use. Although authentication codes are masked within the application, the account owner can access these values via a full data export.
Neither of the authentication codes are displayed in organisation or individual list views and they are excluded from standard exports. In the column chooser, you can select whether to display an indicator showing if these authentication codes are present for a record.
UTR numbers are displayed within the same panels but are not masked in the same way as authentication codes.
